  • January 11, 1613 – Emperor Jahangir permitted East India Company to establish factories in Surat and the first British factory was established under Thomas Aldworth.

  • January 11, 1859 – Lord Curzon, Governor General and Viceroy, was born.

  • January 11, 1944 – Shibu Soren, Indian politician, president of JMM political party, born on 11 January 1944 who condemned for murder in December 2006, then acquitted in August 2007.

  • January 11, 1954 – Kailash Sharma, famously known as Kailash Satyarthi, born in the Vidisha district of central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh on January 11, 1954 is an engineer, academic, and activist.
